Honored Alum Lecture
The Honored Alum Lecture will be given by Roy Montclair on Wednesday, December 1, 2021. Roy is a Lakota Indian who was born and raised on the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation in South Dakota. A convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at age 9, he later served a mission among the Navajo Indians in Arizona. Among his 12 siblings, Roy is the only college graduate. While attending BYU, he also played varsity rugby and met his wife, Charla Roberts. They are the parents of three children.
A 1994 BYU Law graduate, Roy started his legal career clerking for Justice Guy Burningham at Utah’s Fourth District Court. Before his current job, he was Managing Associate Counsel at Snow Nuffer in Salt Lake City and an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Utah.
In August of 2001, Roy joined 1-800 Contacts where he was involved in the passage and implementation of landmark laws and regulations that revolutionized the interaction between consumers, eye care providers, and retailers. Roy currently manages the legal needs for the company’s core business, as well many foreign and domestic affiliates. He also interfaces regularly with state and federal legislators and agencies. His efforts and expertise have been a driving force in the growth of 1-800 Contacts, the nation’s largest retailer of contact lenses.
Further details for the event will be released as the date draws closer.
