BYU Law Registration Form

Please fill out the online registration. You will also be able to register for our tours, CLE, and
optional events here.

  • $500 for each attorney applicant: Administrative fees, CLE (3 hrs), Saturday Tour, Fireside,
    Supreme Court breakfast buffet and group pictures
  • $100 for your guest (includes all above – except CLE)

The BYU registration deadline is Friday, December 28, 2019 or when the first 50 applicants send in
their registration forms. We are limited by the Courts to 50 applicants.

Hotel Information

Renaissance Washington, DC Downtown Hotel

For your convenience, we have a block of rooms reserved at a great discounted group rate with two
different Marriott Hotels in the area. The dates are March 1-4, 2019. Space is limited and
reservations will be on a first come first served basis. The last day to book for the BYU Alumni
group rate is Friday, February 1 2019.

You can call Marriott Reservations: 800-468-3571 to make your reservation, let them know which
hotel and that you are with BYU Law School / BYU Alumni Group to receive the group rate. Or

Application to Supreme Court

Following the instructions provided by the Supreme Court, please complete the Application to the
Supreme Court Bar. Handwritten applications are not accepted by the courts.

Statement of Sponsors: ” The sponsors must be members of the Bar of this Court who know you
personally and are not related to you by blood or marriage. ”

If you cannot find someone who meets the requirements to sign your form, we may be able to
provide BYU Law School faculty who do. Please try your local and state bar members first.
Motion for Admission: DO NOT COMPLETE as we will be doing this in open court.

Please send your original completed application as quickly as possible to: BYU Law External
Relations Office 340 JRCB Provo, Utah 84602-8000

You will also need a check for $200.00 (court admission fee) sent with your application. Please make
the check to: Supreme Court of United States. It is suggested you also make a copy of your
application to keep. Deadline is Friday, January 4, 2018.

Certificate of Good Standing

You will need to obtain a Certificate of Good Standing from the clerk’s office of the highest court
in your state (e.g., the Utah Supreme Court in Utah), NOT from the bar association. To qualify for
admission to the Supreme Court you must have been admitted to practice law in the highest court of
a State, Commonwealth, Territory or Possession, or of the District of Columbia for at least three
years immediately before the date of application.

Swearing-In Ceremony Day

Please note only one guest is permitted at the swearing-in ceremony in the Supreme Court. If you
complete all the paperwork but don’t attend the ceremony, you will not be admitted to the Supreme
Court Bar in absentia.
