Alternative Web Browsers
Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome are alternatives to Microsoft Edge. A few of their features include tabbed browsing and increased security features. Generally, browsing with Firefox or Chrome protects you from most spyware and adware.
If you are running Windows 8 or 10, you will already have Windows Defender however it may need to be activated. If you need help activating it, contact the HelpDesk.
For personal computers BYU now provides Sophos Anti-Virus through your BYU email account. Download information here.
Malwarebytes is a free Anti-Malware Software that will search your computer for affected files and delete all threats. Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware here.
For personal computers BYU recommends, but does not support Sophos Anti-Virus’ free tier.
Brief Catch is a legal editing tool that is an add-on to Microsoft Word. For access please reach out to Prof. Gerdy Kyle.
