David Todd

Professor Todd has been teaching patent law at BYU as an adjunct faculty member since Fall 2000. He is currently an equity shareholder at Workman Nydegger, a Salt Lake City law firm specializing in intellectual property law. Professor Todd graduated summa cum laude from BYU with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and also received his J.D. summa cum laude from BYU. He then clerked for the Honorable Randall R. Rader at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, which resolves patent appeals from all U.S. district courts and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Professor Todd is the co-author of two chapters in Electronic and Software Patents: Law and Practice, has authored amicus briefs on behalf of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and has served on the model patent jury instructions subcommittee for the Federal Circuit Bar Association. Professor Todd's current practice focuses on patent appeals and the legal issues arising in patent litigation.
