Eugene B. Jacobs
Eugene (“Gene”) Jacobs received his law degree in 1951 from the University of California, Berkeley. He worked as deputy attorney general at the California Attorney General’s office and then he worked for the Los Angeles Community Redevelopment Agency. He started his own law firm and set up a framework for the Urban Development Action Grant program and is called “the Father of California Redevelopment Law.” He taught real estate development and state constitutional law classes at BYU Law School and organized the student-run Government and Politics Law Society. He died November 25, 2007 at age 84.
