BYU Law Utilizes Matching Algorithm to Pair Alumni and Students in New Mentor Program
February 14, 2019
BYU Law’s new mentoring program, Alumni Allies, pairs students with alumni using a matching algorithm developed for chemistry.com. The technology offers a stronger basis for developing long-term professional relationships by connecting people with similar interests, characteristics, and values. The new mentoring program moves away from matching based on geographic location and area of practice. “Just because you are a law student and someone else is a lawyer, that doesn’t mean you will click,” said Gayla Sorensen, Assistant Dean of External Relations.
