Join the Black Student Law Association in celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at noon in 306 JRCB. The event will include the reading of one of Dr. King’s speeches. Professor Michalyn Steele will share her thoughts on Dr. King’s life and legacy.
Dr. King was the youngest man to have received the Nobel Peace Prize. He dedicated the prize money of $54,123 to furthering the civil rights movement. He was awarded five honorary degrees; was named Man of the Year by Time magazine in 1963; and became not only the symbolic leader of African Americans, but also a world figure.
