Guest Lecture: Victor Walch

September 26, 2016

The Tax and Estate Planning Society hosted a lecture by attorney Victor Walch on Thursday, September 22, 2016. Walch is a California attorney specializing in federal and state income taxes, gift and estate taxes, probate, and estate planning.

Walch shared many practical tips with students about succeeding in the legal profession. He advised students to make sure they obtain as much information as they can while retaining respect for the client. “You need to develop the skill of knowing how far to go in asking questions,” he said.

He also encouraged students to make sure they extend common courtesies, including returning phone calls promptly and being on time to appointments. “I think one of the reasons my clients stayed with me was because I did this,” he said.

Walch suggested students focus on gaining the respect of others in the profession. “I encourage you to take every opportunity to continue to learn from those in the profession who are willing to share what they know with you as you do work for them,” he said.
