Utah Assistant Commissioner of Higher Education and BYU Law alum Geoffrey Landward addressed students on February 5, 2016, about building a career. Landward described his career pathway that led to his current position and encouraged students to take advantage of opportunities to carve and define their own path.
Landward emphasized the importance of gaining practical skills and experience, building and maintaining a network, and employing a diligent work ethic. He challenged students to “take [any] opportunity given to you—whether it’s what you hoped for or not—and make the absolute best of it.”
Landward concluded by explaining to students that obtaining a law degree does not limit career possibilities, but rather expands them. Describing what a graduate can do with a law degree, he said, “It really can be almost anything.”
