Immigration Debate

November 7, 2016

The Federalist Society hosted an immigration debate on Thursday, November 3, 2016. Hans A. von Spakovsky, a Senior Legal Fellow at the Heritage Foundation, and BYU Law Professor Justin Collings debated the constitutionality and reasoning of executive action to implement immigration reform. They discussed the implications of U.S. v. Texas and considered the powers of both Congress and the President according to the Constitution.

According to Ailsa Lillywhite, Director of Public Outreach for the Federalist Society, “The Federalist Society debates begin discourse, raise consciousness, and help those about to enter the legal profession to get an idea of the landscape they can expect to see and to shape over the course of their careers.”
