LawMeets Transactional Competition

November 14, 2018

BYU Law recently held its intra-school LawMeets Transactional Competition. This year’s winners were Trevor Fugate and Natalie Lambert, with John Sellers placing as runner-up. These students will advance to the regional competition on February 26, 2016, at the University of Denver. The regional competition will involve the team creating a merger agreement and then negotiating the agreement against other schools in the region.

The intra-school competition involved watching a hypothetical client video where the students were given a transactional problem and a contract to review. Students then had to provide a legal solution to the problem in a three-minute video submission. Participant’s scores were based on their understanding of the law, the contract, and presentation.

The LawMeets Transactional Competition is an excellent way for students to practice legal skills and become more familiar with the transactional side of the law.
