Brian Kershisnik is an American painter and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who is known for his depictions of religious scenes. This painting is a portrayal of the issue of blood, a well-known story in the Bible of an ill woman who, after touching the robe of Christ, is healed. Uniquely, Kershisnik has not made it known who the ill woman is, nor who Jesus is. With a slightly open space in the center of the painting, Kershisnik invites the viewer to become part of the story, putting us in place of the woman, prompting reflection of our faith in Christ – especially BYU Law students as they endeavor to adopt characteristics of Christ to integrate into their lifelong learning and service.
