JD Expected Learning Outcomes
- Students will gain knowledge and understanding of substantive and procedural law.
- Students will be able to competently engage in legal analysis, reasoning, and problem solving.
- Students will be able to perform competent legal research and effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
- Students will be able to recognize and resolve ethical issues in light of ethical, moral, and religious principles.
- Students will develop a values-based professional identity, interpersonal skills, and the ability to create and foster positive professional relationships.
- Students will receive a legal education that is intellectually enlarging, spiritually strengthening, character building, and encourages commitment to lifelong learning and service.
LLM Expected Learning Outcomes
- Students will demonstrate competency in explaining and applying fundamental principles of the U.S. legal system, with attention to how these differ from the legal system of their home jurisdiction.
- Students will be able to engage in legal analysis, reasoning, and problem solving within the U.S. framework. They will also be able to perform U.S.-style legal research and produce clear, well-organized legal writing.
- Students will be prepared to return to their home countries as competent legal professionals committed to promoting justice, strengthening legal institutions, and advancing the rule of law, bringing the skills, values, and perspectives gained through their U.S. legal education.
- Students will build a network of contacts and associates that will support continued global legal engagement. This will be enhanced by participation in the law school community and its resources such as the International Center for Law and Religion Studies, the J. Reuben Clark Law Society, and student organizations.
