Adjunct Faculty
Adam Wahlquist
Adam Wahlquist is a dispute resolution practitioner with nineteen years of legal experience in litigation and arbitration. He maintains an active litigation practice in Utah and California while building a growing arbitration practice as both counsel and arbitrator. Mr. Wahlquist has been appointed as arbitrator in consumer, securities, and commercial disputes.
As arbitration counsel, he has represented clients before leading institutions including the AAA-ICDR, ICC, SIAC, VIAC, and JAMS, handling disputes ranging from $25,000 to $44 million. His litigation practice spans complex commercial disputes, class actions, securities matters, and real estate litigation.
Mr. Wahlquist is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and holds a master’s in international dispute settlement from the University of Geneva/IHEID. He serves as adjunct professor of international arbitration at BYU Law School. He speaks English and French.
Arbitration Experience
Arbitrator Appointments: Arbitrator on American Arbitration Association-International Centre for Dispute Resolution (AAA-ICDR), FINRA, and Dubai International Arbitration Centre panels. Has conducted arbitrations resolving consumer, securities, and commercial disputes across multiple industries.
Counsel Experience: Represents clients in domestic and international arbitrations before major institutions (AAA-ICDR, ICC, VIAC, JAMS) and in ad hoc proceedings. Recent matters include a $44 million international IP dispute before VIAC, ICC construction arbitration seated in Ghana, SIAC arbitration inn Singapore, and multiple commercial contract disputes under various arbitration rules.
Litigation Practice
Mr. Wahlquist maintains an active litigation practice in Utah and California, handling complex commercial disputes, class actions, securities matters, and real estate litigation. Notable successes include favorable jury verdicts, class action certifications, and multimillion-dollar settlements.
International Experience
Mr. Wahlquist speaks English and French and has lived abroad in Geneva, Switzerland and Abidjan, Ivory Coast. He has represented clients in international matters involving parties from Australia, Austria, Bermuda, Canada, China, France, Japan, Mexico, Singapore, Slovakia, the UK, and Vietnam.
Prior to joining Kirton McConkie, Mr. Wahlquist was a business litigation associate at McCormick Barstow, LLP in California and served as a federal judicial law clerk to the Honorable Earl H. Carroll at the United States District Court, District of Arizona.
