David Halverson

David Halverson is an adjunct professor who teaches courses relating to public lands, environmental law, and natural resources.

Professor Halverson graduated from Georgetown University Law Center in 2009 after completing his undergraduate degree at BYU. He has worked as a practicing attorney in the field of environmental law his entire career. Following law school, Professor Halverson worked at a large, international law firm in Washington, DC, where he represented clients in major environmental litigation, including the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Upon moving back to Utah, he worked on public lands issues for the State of Utah’s Public Lands Policy Coordinating Office. He now works for the Department of the Interior, Office of the Solicitor, where he primarily represents the Bureau of Land Management, the agency that manages about 42% of land in Utah.

Professor Halverson’s practice has involved a wide range of environmental and public lands issues, including energy development, public rights of access to federal land, recreation, endangered species, and more. He lives in Lehi with his wife and two children.
