Faculty Profile

Joseph B. Hinckley is an experienced corporate attorney and legal leader. As senior manager of the Venture Counsel Program at Wilson Sonsini, he leads a team representing startups in venture financings, corporate governance, and compliance, while advancing innovative legal technology. He also serves as co-director of the LawX Legal Design Lab at BYU’s J. Reuben Clark Law School, where he teaches legal innovation.

Previously, Joseph was corporate counsel at BioFire Diagnostics (bioMérieux) and practiced corporate law with Durham Jones & Pinegar, P.C. and Jones Waldo Holbrook & McDonough, P.C., guiding clients through mergers, acquisitions, venture financings, and other corporate matters. He has been recognized as a Utah Legal Elite and Super Lawyers Rising Star. Joseph received a BA in American Studies from Brigham Young University and a JD from the University of Kansas School of Law.
