Scott Loveless
A. Scott Loveless is an emeritus faculty member of the J. Reuben Clark Law School. He served as the Executive Director of the World Family Policy Center at BYU Law School until its closure in 2008. Loveless has been involved in public policy, notably supporting California Proposition 8 (2008) through various writings. He earned his JD from BYU in 1978, with his final year at Georgetown University, and holds a PhD in family studies from BYU.
Before his academic career, Loveless worked for twenty years as an attorney and supervising attorney in the Office of the Solicitor at the US Department of the Interior. He collaborated with Richard G. Wilkins to promote the recognition of the family in international law and wrote a review on the “Law of the [Colorado] River” for the Utah Historical Quarterly.
Loveless is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is married to Cheri Anderson Loveless, who has worked as an associate editor for Meridian Magazine and This People.
