Todd Goodsell has worked as a career advisor at the BYU Law School Career Development Office since 2021. Originally from La Cañada, California, Todd graduated from BYU Law in 2007 after earning a BA in English and Humanities. As a law student, Todd spent his summers at a London law firm and at the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice. He also enjoyed working for judges at the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals and the Utah Supreme Court, as well as assisting professors in the publication of books and articles.

Todd began his career in San Diego working for a boutique law firm focused on commercial insurance litigation. Todd subsequently earned an MBA from Indiana University, which created opportunities to advise startups on business organization matters.

BYU Law holds a special place in Todd’s heart for many reasons, but in particular as the place where he met his wife in a study group for a first-year Property final exam (Erin Goodsell, JD 2007). In addition to his own professional experience, Todd has benefited from supporting Erin in her career at a large law firm and as in-house counsel for companies specializing in technology.

Todd and Erin live in Provo with their four children. Todd enjoys traveling with his family and building LEGO sets he claims are for his children. He hopes to qualify for the Boston Marathon one day and is happy to golf any day.

As a career advisor, Todd loves to support students as they work to develop their individual interests and strengths. He coordinates belonging opportunities on behalf of the CDO and builds relationships with employers.
