Director of Career Development

Glen B. Collyer

Glen Collyer was born and raised in a small farming community in New Mexico. He was an All-State high school football player, played basketball, and ran track. He enrolled at Brigham Young University in 1976, spent two years on an LDS mission in Pusan, Korea, from 1977 to 1979, and left BYU in 1986 with a BS in accounting, an MBA, and a JD.

After graduating from BYU, Glen worked as a judicial clerk on the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals for Judge Monroe McKay. Glen became an associate at Latham & Watkins in Los Angeles, California, in 1987 and a partner in 1994. Glen practiced as a banking finance attorney and served in various management roles, including Los Angeles chair of the Finance Department, vice chair and member of the Finance Committee, and member of the Training and Career Enhancement Committee. Glen retired as a partner in 2017 but continued to serve as a counsel advisor for Latham for four more years.

Glen and Lori were married in 1981 in the Manti Temple. They now have five children and twelve grandchildren. Their children and grandchildren live in California, Iowa, Utah, and Washington. Glen and Lori love spending time with their grandchildren and enjoy BYU sports (their first date was to a BYU football game). Because Glen attended every football and basketball game while a student, his children accuse him of being a “True Blue Fan.” Glen also enjoys fantasy novels, needlepoint (he has made a Christmas stocking for each of his children, each of their spouses, and five of his grandchildren) and what his children refer to as “vintage video games”: Tetris and Dr. Mario.
